Hi,
I'll dig this article out for you tomorrow and I'll scan and send it two
you.
Playing tunes through the speaker, you could select a channel and play that.
I have somewhere lying about a midi to mobile phone convert which does do
that. There's some other stuff I have seen in the converter line midi2txt
and txt2midi which I will take a look at.
Chris

Thanks to all who've replied so far - all very interesting.
Chris,
The article sounds extremely interesting. If you could dig out the
article and scan it or something I would be very grateful - but don't
bother if it's lots of hassle.
I was thinking along the lines of interpreting the note on/off and
perhaps velocity events and playing the right notes on the speaker, and
pretty much ignoring all other MIDI data. My knowledge of MIDI is
virtually non-existant, unfortunately, so I don't think my brain could
cope with much more!
I don't have any particular reason for wanting to do this - I just
thought it might be fun :-)
Thanks.
Tim.
