Or use a solder sucker (not solder braid). For each pin, carefully heat
the pin until the solder melts. Apply the solder sucker and release the
plunger. Repeat for every pin. It can take a bit of practice, but I've
successfully removed many soldered components to replace with a sockets
this way.
