Subject: 64K BASIC ROM for BBC B, already done?

Hi all,

You may know Wouter Scholten's ROM archive includes "Acorn/bas128.zip",
which contains a version of Basic that runs in main memory and uses
sideways RAM for the program and data.

I think BAS128 was intended for the Master. The files appear hacked to
run on a B+. I have a plain model B with SRAM, and can run this by
defining a tiny text window in MODE 7 then entering "*/BasObj".

The BASIC 3 and HiBASIC ROM images from Wouter's archive wouldn't work
(they hung on selection.) If I were to try and compress BAS128 into a
paged ROM (as a *ROM file), does anyone think (or know) if I'd just be
duplicating the function of a released language ROM?

(When I get time, I'll put up a Web page on adding 128K sideways RAM +
ROM inexpensively.)
