Oh dear.  That can't be good.  I'll have to look at the code and see if
I can think of any reason why that would happen.

No, that should be fine.  (Indeed, TCP/IP probably won't work if NFS
isn't the current filing system.)  FWIW, I have a feeling that some
Acorn fileservers viewed *LOGOFF as transitive, which might explain your
apparent lack of privilege.  Try *BYE instead.
