They may do, yes things like that and it is.

The specification for the ZIP file format includes space for platform
specific extra info to be stored.  The addition of platform specific
information occurs on RISC OS and over a dozen other OSs.  If a zip
handling tool (such as an unzipper) does not understand the extra
information it should leave it alone and do nothing with it - extra
information in no way prevents the file being unzipped.

Of course ArcFSArc archives and Spark archives are not ZIP archives.
