The Teac FD-55 was one of the most popular drives used with the BBC
micro.  It should work straight off with the 8271.  What is the full
FD55-nn-nn model string off the drive label? (the Teac label on the
drive mechanism, not the outer case)

You'll have to give us a clue what is wrong.  "It runs OK on 1770 but
not on 8271" doesn't tell us anything.  What are you doing to test, and
what errors do you get?
