Subject: BBC Model B smoking

Just thought I would let you all know that thanks for the info about the
PSU capacitors, I have replaced C1 and C2, and my Beeb now works fine again.
With no smoke! And yes, it was a bit of a fiddle getting at the PSU
circuit board. C2 had definitely blown. Mind you, the current Maplin replacement

has narrower pins, but luckily they were long enough for me to bend out to
fit the board. Having done that, it rather looked as though the circuit
board had a second set of closer together pin holes, but it was too late by
then. Still have the second B to similarly repair. Also the Watford ROM/RAM
board to attend to (which I have temporarliy removed from the Beeb), as its
battery has corroded, and needs replacing.

Now I have to brush up on my BBC Basic, and check out the various discs I
have, to entertain the grandchildren... One Cumana disc drive appears to
have jammed, as I can't get a disc into it anymore, but I have another one
that works o.k. (so far).
