Or maybe he's on a 3G link, as is increasingly common, in which case -
yes, every message does indeed count. This 'everyone is on broadband'
snobbery is becoming increasingly common, and with so many powerful
mobile devices it's increasingly unwarranted.

For the record, I also get my mail on my phone, and the off-topic
stuff is starting to really grate.
