When dialling. British wiring is a single pair too, the 3rd wire only
gets added at the master socket.

>Mmmm, there's something of a lack of neighbours here. :-)

<shrug> I got a brand new Netgear DG834GT from ebay for 2 quid. It was
Sky branded and had the Sky firmware, but it was easy to reflash it.
I'm using the DG Team firmware (www.dgteam.ilbello.com). This resulted
in a jump in sync from ca.7200 to 8032, it's stayed there since and has
been rock solid.

The DG834GT is known for making the most of poor phone lines.
